"Diamond Plate Productions" is a part-time endeavor for me. I am a full-time Fire Lieutenant in East Hartford, Connecticut. I began playing the drums and singing in bands in 1976. Along the way I picked up guitars and keyboards, worked on my vocals, and soon found that I could create full musical pieces entirely on my own. I was a music major at the University of Bridgeport, CT, and moved to Los Angeles in 1987 to pursue a music performance career. In the process I have logged a great deal of time recording in studios and performing on stage. Meanwhile, I always had a small studio set up in my residence, where I would record and produce my own material.

I am a 3rd generation Firefighter, following in the footsteps of my Father and Grandfather. In 1995, after some 10 years of volunteering with Connecticut Fire Departments, and 8 years residing in Los Angeles, I relocated to Georgia, where I began my fire service career with the City of Savannah Fire Department. One year later I returned to Connecticut to accept an opportunity with the East Hartford Fire Department, where I was promoted to Fire Lieutenant in 2008. I reside with my family in Manchester, CT.

In 2003, a co-worker of mine on the fire department commented on how impressed he was with my speaking voice. He is a part-time web site designer and asked me to record a streaming audio voice-over for a site he was constructing. This was what gave me the idea to do voice-over work. Shortly thereafter, I attended a class at Manchester Community College taught by internationally known voice-over artist Peter Drew, and another program more recently, presented by Connecticut voice-over artist Eric Michael Summerer. These programs instructed me in the basics of interpreting and delivering broadcast copy. I soon realized that I could combine voice with my musical talents to create "Mitch Amatrudo Voice, Music and Sound", and that I could take advantage of my fire service background to expand that business into "Diamond Plate Productions".

My technical talents as an engineer and producer grew from being able to squeeze out decent sounding demos from my original Casio keyboard, drum machine, and a 4-track reel-to-reel tape deck years ago, to operating the PC based digital sound processing equipment that I now own which makes this business possible. Exciting technological developments in recent years in the areas of home sound recording and telecommunications have also helped to make this vision a reality.
