Halloween 2008

The neighborhood we live in is pretty cool.  It's probably one of the last of a dying breed, actually.  While it's right near the center of town in a suburb of the capital city of Connecticut, it still retains an old-fashioned,  yet ethnically diverse vibe.  The folks in the area keep their properties very well maintained, and there's always a friendly "neighbor helping neighbor" thing going on.  Halloween is always a great night here, mostly due to the big production that a guy down the street used to put on each year,  but since  Halloween 0f 2006 was his last year doing it, we decided to carry on the tradition last year with a little production of our own.  Since it was a success, it looks like it will be an annual event.

I created this page to show that a good old-fashioned Halloween night still lives.  Until we moved here, I thought that Halloween was dead.  Remember when we were kids how many trick-or-treaters were out? How many of you get only a handful these days, if any?

Halloween night here is like a journey back in time, with the street full of costumed youths, all excited with their bags full of candy, and all of the neighborhood residents hanging out outside socializing and stuff.  Lots of fun.

This is a collection of photos that I took of this year's production, and of some of the trick-or-treaters.

Be sure to stop by next year, as we plan on this thing to grow a little more each year.

And here is our 2007 1st annual Halloween extravaganza.
